Basketball Tips: Individual Shooting Tips

When you have limited space or want to practice your basketball skills by yourself, Coach Todd German Director of McCracken Basketball Camps has you covered. Follow along with this video for tips on how to improve your shooting skills with long-time McCracken Basketball Camp Camper and Coach David Vogel.

Perfect Swish

Coach Todd's favorite drill is a shooting drill that focuses on perfecting your shooting touch. All you need to do is stand in front of the basket, about three feet away and see how many balls you can make in the hoop in a row. Count to see how many you can make and when you miss start over at zero.

Shooting Competition

This shooting competition helps improve your shooting range. You can do this by yourself and or against your friends. Start about two feet away from the basket and everytime you make a shot take a step back. See how far back you can get with missing three or fewer shots.

Ironman and Ironwoman

This is a series of drills that you can pick based on what you want to improve on. In the video Coach David decided to do these drills:

10 Lay-Ups

10- Lane Slides

10 Passes Off the Wall

50 Dribbles on Each Hand

1 Lap Around your House

1 Free Throw

Practice these three drills at home and use this time to stay in shape on focus on your individual skills. If you continue to work hard and put in the effort you will stay strong and return back to the court ready for the competition.
